POLAR BEAR : Polar bear is known as the world's biggest flesh eating animal. Standing upto a height of 10feet , male Polar Bears can weigh more than 600 Kg. The Polar Bear wears a yellowish-white fur coat to face the harsh climate of the place in which it lives. The Polar Bear's diet consists of seal, walrus,small whales, and sometimes blueberries and crowberries that appear in the brief Arctic summer. Polar Bears are  good swimmers. Their slightly webbed feet help the the padding action and they can swim for hours at a stretch in the cold waters of the Arctic Ocean. Water is not absorbed by the fur . The short curved claws on their feet help in the gripping the ice as well as their pray. If chased , the bears are surprisingly alert and they climb cliffs and rocks with great easy.The ears and the tail are very small which minimises the loss of heat.

The polar bear's fur which is not different from the white landscape of the Arctic helps it to suddenly attack a aringed seal from the behind, taking the animal completely by surprise. Migration takes place in the winter. The bears then move to the southern edge of the floating ice fields in search of ice- free regions. Polar Bears come together only during the mating period or when meeting on a meal. The life expectancy of the bears is around 25 years. They reach the breeding age by five years. The mating period of the bears is from April to June.Cubs are born in snow dens which are dug by the females before they give birth. It gives birth to three cubs on an average. The cubs are fed on a diet of aft rich milk by the mother which enables them to cope with the harsh winter of the world outside. The cubs are ready to face the world by th age of three months . Polar Bear cubs are quite attached to their mother and stay with her till they are 28 months old. Hunting  for the fur and trophies has drastically reduced the polar bear population in the arctic. A recent survey has put the number of polar bears at about 20000.

KING COBRA : The Cobra is the most well known among the 230 species of snakes in India. A fully grown cobra is about 180cm long with a circumference of about 15cm. It is highly poisonous and has very powerful poison in its upper fang. When it expands the ribs in the neck, the loose skin of that region is stretched out, forming the hood that differentiates it from other snakes. It was the Portuguese who called it cobra-de-capello meaning 'the hooded snake'. The Indian cobra lives for not more than 25 years at the most. The digestive juices in its stomach help to digest whole creature hair, hide and bones. It can go without food for long periods. Like  other snakes the cobra's eye have no eyelids , and therefore, always remain open. It also has no ears. From time to time it sheds its skin and appears brand new shining. The Indian cobra strikes and bites. On rare occasions it spists its venom and throw it to some distance aiming accurately. The king Cobra is the largest of all the poisonous snakes, but it attacks men only when it is provoked . It is 5.50 metre long and is almost wholly a snake eater. a king Cobra has enough poison to kill ten men but it feeds mainly on other snakes.

Manatee :

A manatee is a mammal, not a fish. It looks like a small whale. The American Manatee lives in the rivers of florida, Mexico,Central America and the West Indies. It measures from 9 to 13 feet in length . The body is some what like a fish , but tail is quite different. It is broad , shovel - like horizontal and has rounded edges. It has a thick skin which is hairless, except for whiskers on the upper lips. 
                               Mantee are habitant of bays , lagoons and the large rivers, but not in the open sea. As a rule they prefer to stay in shallow water . When they are not feeding, they lie near the bottom. In deeper water, they often float about with the body arched , the rounded back close to the surface and the head, limbs and tail hanging down.
                             Manatees live on the plants they find in the shallow waters. they use their flippers to push food to their mouths and a manatee may eat 60 to 100 pounds of food a day. But then a grown manatee may weigh as much as 1500 pounds. Because manatee browse like cows in the shallow waters and they are often seen in small herds. Hencethey are sometimes called 'Sea Cows' Manatees usually give birth to one calf , but sometimes there are twins. To nurse the young , the mother rises to the surface of the water and with her head and shoulders out of the water, clasps the youngster to her breast with her flippers. Manatees move very slow and are harmless. In some places manatees are still being hunted because of their flesh , their hide and the oil which can be obtained from them.

Gardener-Bird :
Little is known about the peculiar habits of theGardener - Bird. It seems to have a marked liking for colourful objects and for what seems to be gardening . This birds lives in forest clearings in New Guinea. It builds an Elaborate nest shaped like a little hut and surrounds it with a sort of garden which it decorates with flowers, shells and various colorful objects. These objects are not just thrown together haphazardly. The gardener- bird arranges everything carefully and tries it out in different patterns before deciding how the garden will look. Related species of this bird can decorate the interior of their nests by painting them with colours which they make with their own saliva and various materials. Sometimes these birds even use brushes made of small bunchesof leaves.
